Our Halloween

We had a really fun Halloween this year. We always like to decorate our yard, and I think it turned out really scary this year!!! We added the blood-aid stand and it was a huge hit!!!

Sam and Josh also had a blast scaring the neighborhood kids with the chainsaws and costumes. They had people shaking, and people wanting to get pics with them. Our neighbor was also out scaring people with his chainsaw, they made a great team. The people nicknamed our street Chainsaw Valley. It was the best Halloween we've had in a long time.

Zack's Broken Arm

July 23, 2008

We went to Ben's BBQ and were having a blast!!! Zack was inside watching TV with Hunter and Ivy, in Ben's room. They were on his bed and Hunter accidentally pushed Zack off the bed. Zack landed such that he completely broke his arm. We took him to Copperview Med. center, and the nurse took one look at his arm, and immediately went to get the doctor . The doctor came in and told us he would need to go up to Primary Children's Hospital. Zack would have to have surgery to fix this break. So off to primaries we go... When we get there they came out with a wheel chair for Zack, he really enjoyed that ride, we checked in and found out that two other kids were in for the same kind of break. They got an x-ray pretty fast and had us in a room with in an hour of arrival. Then came the fun; due to Zack's NDI he can't have a regular saline drip because it has to much sodium which I told the nurse. Then all of the specialist's had to come in to figure out what to do. The pediatric team, the ortho team, and the NDI specialists. They couldn't get him into surgery until the next day, which meant Zack couldn't have any water until after surgery. The next day (July 24th) being a holiday the ortho team was called into work just for the surgery. They put three pins in his arm and said that things went well. They put him in a soft cast to allow the swelling to go down. After what seemed like forever and much dispute between the different doctors they finally sent us home. Then a week later we went back in and Zack got a hard cast on. He started first grade with a cast on his right arm, but he did an amazing job with his left hand. That's my BOY!!

Help!!!

Karate Kid

Zack has been taking karate for about a month. He loves it, he goes all over the house pretending to fight bad guys. He is doing really well at it, he has a better attention span than older kids in his class. His dojo had a fundraiser to send some kids to Florida, to test for black belt. They had a bake off, games, and demonstrations. Zack and Cortnee had a blast!!!

Sam's Injury

Last Oct. Sam was at work, just a regular day of estimating and cleaning up mouse poo. He decided to take the shred out to the recycle can . Seems harmless enough, but what he didn't know was that the stairs had it in for him. From the first time he set foot on them, they were plotting against him. "How can we get that man?" Well today they decided to give way, and send him on a fall, where he would herniate disks in his back, and tear the rotator cuff in his left shoulder trying to save himself from falling. The stairs were able to knock him on his butt and knock him out for a time. But they didn't take into account that mighty Sam had a sidekick, his trusted cell phone. He came to, and called the office manager, she came and called 911, and the EMT's came to the rescue. After a long stay in the ER he was able to go home. But the pain and plot didn't end there. He had to go to alot of doctor appointments and physical therapy. After months of physical therapy and lots of drugs, the docs decided to do an epidural shot into his spine to help his back. He also had surgery on his shoulder, where they had to grind off bone. Now its back to more physical therapy. So make sure you are freindly to the stairs in your life, you never know what they are plotting or how much damage they really can do.
